The Dark Side

As I sit here typing this, the toddler in the flat upstairs is having a grand time running, jumping, and of course, landing. Repeatedly.

He does indeed sound like he is having the time of his life and I imagine him to look as though he is auditioning for a part in Stomp. Down here on the other hand, I am slowly losing the will to live.

It makes the anticipation of moving to our new flat, which is on the top floor of the development, even more exciting, as we are expecting confirmation of a move-in date sometime this week. In the meantime, I've been giving more thought to one of the smallest, but most important rooms in the flat: the downstairs loo.

With no natural light, and measuring at just about 3'x6', I think this miniscule blank canvas is the perfect opportunity to go dark.

I love the cosy and cave-like feel of a dark room, so I am seriously contemplating painting the ceiling as well. I want the eye to be able to continuously travel, rather than breaking up the flow with a white ceiling.

I'm also thinking about adding a chair rail and some type of wainscot along the bottom third of the walls for added architectural interest, but this all depends on budget, time constraints, and how brave I'm feeling.

I guess we'll see in due course. Fingers crossed it will all happen soon!
